Better data label customization

When data labels are enabled on visualization types where data overlaps (such as clustered bar charts and line charts), there are occasions where data labels do not display, or it is difficult to tell which label corresponds to which bar/line. There should be better customization options for Data Labels, which would ease comprehension of various visualizations. In particular, for the varied types of bar charts: - Label location: start of bar, middle of bar, end of bar, end of chart - Label/Background colour matching: change the label's text or background to match the bar to which it corresponds - Label Stacking? If a label would overlap with another, display both of them slightly offset, instead of only displaying one label.

Sometimes in a stacked bar chart (and other charts), the bar is small so you can not see the number label. However, it would be great to see the label anyway as in Excel. It is a really important detail from the customer.

It would be good if you can allow only the total of a particular line column value to be appeared through data-label feature. Currently the report has a feature to display all the values with in a particular column. Can we get an update on this?

I would love to be able to turn off the concatenated drill path labels on the x-axis of charts, when drilling concatenating the parent dimension makes the label too long.

Really need to be able to turn off the concatenated drill down data labels, this makes the label way too long even just one level down and would preferably drill multiple levels

How long will it take for this to get resolved? 😞

Hello, it appears that labels concatenate automatically when multiple fields are stacked. This occurs with bar and column charts. For column charts, the switch to un-concatenate is not working. For bar charts, there is no switch to un-concatenate.

It can also be very hard to match a data label to a point on a line graph with a continuous axis, as per my Twitter thread here: https://twitter.com/InsightsMachine/status/1231796779231760384 Perhaps we need an optional setting to plot an actual marker on a line graph that corresponds to each data point and/or add a leader line.

When will we be able to use text data labels to label graphs directly? So easy to do in Tableau! I was hoping with Charticulator that we could do it, but unfortunately we lose customizations with the Export as Power BI Visual option. There is a way to hack the SVG but it's so complicated for the outcome...

This is very important!

I'm using a 'Line and Stacked Column Chart'. The requirement to have a label on each segment of the column is pretty basic. Please add this capability.
