Better Auditing of User Activity (Datasets, Reports, Dashboards, Exports)

ALL user activities in Power BI should be logged for auditing purposes, including datasets accessed, reports/dashboards accessed, and especially data exports performed. The audit data should be accessible as a dataset to build reports against as well as easily exportable / downloadable.

We released a US only preview for auditing Power BI. Read more about it here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-admin-auditing/

This is crucial to actually understand what are the users looking at and how often so that we drive usage, if need be or remove redundant stuff at the same time enhance most used reports.

This is a must feature! If POwerBI is to make it iinto Corporate scenarios, one key aspect is compliance and monitoring, therefore it is really important to have the equivalent in PowerBI , to the ExecutionLog3 from Reporting Services

Content creators are the ones who need this data the most! I'm sure admins can get useful info out of it, but I need to know what my customers are using so I can improve my own work.

This is one of the biggest challenges we have today with many tools, trying to determine who is using them! This will provide valuable input into the types of analytics and data people find helpful. It is always hard to get good feedback

I agree. Especially when implementing Power BI in a large enterprise. You need to know what your uptake is like. The power of Self-Serve BI is in it's ability to be flexible. If you can't tune your presentation to what the end users want to consume, it's no better than SAP BW.

This is a basic requirement for management reporting on sensitive data. Power BI is limited to non-sensitive data streams without this functionality

'@Amanda. Status? Extremely important that we get full audit and compliance features in PowerBI.

Thanks Amanda - Given the sensitivity of BI data coupled with the general reluctance of firms to use cloud platforms; Microsoft would do itself well if it thought like an Auditor of a highly regulated company w/ respect to PowerBi execution/audit logs & AzureAD authentication audit logs (as well). The Security & Compliance Center (O 365) should be just as functional for PowerBi as it is for OneDrive 4 Biz.
