Axis field on UI tip says "fields to place on horizontal/vertical axis". Confusing.

Have separate fields called X-Axis and Y-Axis (and z-axis if needed). I still cant work out how to assign a field to each axis. Having one field called Axis that claims to be both x and y is confusing, what is it, x or y??
