This would be a massive boon in providing customers with the possibility of a much richer self-service Power BI experience when integrating large scale data sources with smaller scale and transient data sets created by the customers themselves

This is the entire reason my company needs Power BI! I started using BI and now that I have access to our SQL Server, I came to find out I cannot combine the data I need to combine unless it becomes possible to use DirectQuery from 2 different databases on the Server plus mix in some imports.......

This functionality is needed by a key customer of mine.

This is a common scenario in many of my projects. If it is self service BI then customer need to import their own Excel sheets to a direct query connection model. This is a very severe limitation.

We have 1500 power bi licensed users... it's really a problem explaining that the self service reporting tool doesn't allow mashups of custom data with formal data! Biggest feature request from our organisation!

Definitelly, something we need. Also, mixing multiple sources in the direct query (for example, 2 different sql servers)

It is almost funny in how many cases my end users wish to see the finest grain details for a specific customers when they start looking deeper into some phenomenon. Any way I can easily enable them to dig deeper in to the details without exploding the model is welcome. The ability to switch to another page in the report retaining filtering values is great, now to get further the detail-page would need to fetch the most detailed data over a direct query.

We definitely need this one...

It is a crucial issue that can solve many database level integration workarounds.

would be nice if this can be at object level in the dashboard pages.
