Allow Power Bi Desktop to publish reports to Group Workspace not just Personal Workspace

Groups are great but it is important that group members be able to publish from Desktop directly into the Group workspace instead of having to export it as a Content Pack

March update of Power BI Desktop has this feature https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-march-update-feature-summary/

In the Power BI Desktop, you can publish your file to the service. However, you can't specify if you are publishing it to your personal workspace or a group workspace. It always goes to your personal workspace. People using groups want the capability to choose. 1. Publish to group workspace or 2. Publish their personal workspace.

How do I share my already created reports with my group?

This is one of the reasons we are holding off implementing Power BI. It makes development team development using Power BI Desktop very difficult.

This is great to see that it is now planned. Would it be too much to ask what the planned approach is and timeline. I'd suggest a workspace dropdown on the Save As dialog to allow you to move things around.

My main concern is with proper documentation of reports. If I were to publish directly from my desktop application to the group workspace, would there be a way to revert to the old version of the report? This is a feature that one drive allows and it's completely missing from the power bi applications.

When connecting live to SSAS tabular KPIs in the model should be supported, accompanied by a suitable KPI display that support up to 5 states.

Also from Desktop, you cant re-use a data connection. So for example if I want to have a variety of reports and dashboards for different audiences, but all connecting back to the same on prem tabular model, I finish up with a data connection named the same as each PBIX file when these files are published.

Currently there doesn't see to be a viable dashboard lifecycle that works with Groups and Power BI desktop. You cant create a dashboard in desktop. From Desktop you can only publish reports to your own workspace. There you can create a dashboard, then publish the data source, report and dashboard to a group in a content pack, but that make the group content pack dependant on the personal workspace of the person who created the dashboard.
