EDIT: I've identified that this was due to a user setting caching issue, not a permissions issue. This issue was resolved by switching browsers.
The new public preview of the Manual Update for On-Premises Data Gateway is now live!
Sadly, although the role description on the Gateway settings page shows that the Admin role allows users to manage gateway updates, the [ Gateway Update available ] and [ Update gateway ] triggers seem gated behind the Fabric Admin role membership.
It is difficult in my organization to get the Fabric Admin role membership, and this seems an unnecessary complication for the BAU task of updating the gateway that I am already an administrator of, and removes much of the benefit of the convenience of the web based update mechanism in preview.
It would be great to see the web based update be enabled for members of the Admin role on the gateway.
