Allow Dynamic File Naming for Visual Data Export (CSV/Excel)
Currently, when using the "Export data" option from the "More options" (...) menu on any visual, Power BI automatically assigns the generic name "data" to the resulting CSV or Excel file.
This requires users to manually rename every single export, which is inefficient and prone to errors, especially when dealing with multiple filtered views of the same report.
Proposed Solution: I suggest adding an option to define a Dynamic File Name for exports directly within the visual settings. The filename should be customizable using:
- A DAX Measure: Allowing the filename to change based on the current filter context (e.g., Selected_Month_Report.csv).
- Conditional Formatting: A field-based naming convention similar to how we currently set dynamic titles for visuals.
Value to Users: This improvement would streamline workflows for all users who need to export filtered data frequently. It removes the manual step of renaming files and ensures that the exported document is immediately identifiable based on its content or the specific filters applied at the time of export.
