Alert When a Power BI Visual Encounters an Error

If a user encounters an error in a Power BI report, such as from missing data permissions, currently the only way the report creator will know is if the user notifies them. It would be nice to have a method of sending an alert to the report creator with the error message so they can proactively address it.

Concise case to post: Power BI lacks proactive observability at the visual level. When a visual fails (permissions, query errors, gateway issues), report owners are not notified and must rely on users to report it—if they ever do. This creates: Silent data failures and loss of trust Delayed issue detection and high resolution time Risk of incorrect decisions based on incomplete dashboards In enterprise environments with hundreds of reports, this approach does not scale. A simple alert mechanism (email/Teams/Power Automate) triggered by visual errors would: Enable proactive monitoring Reduce support overhead Improve data reliability and governance If a visual fails and no one reports it, the business is already making decisions on broken data.

Having an automatic alert sent to the report creator, including the error message, would be very helpful and would allow issues to be addressed more quickly and proactively.
