A kind request to embed the functionality of having a plain row number / index column that is not affected by sorting or anything in the visual, just goes from 1, 2, 3 and on Perhaps scope creeping, but is dependent on column sorting and more or less impossible to create a dax for if there are several columns that can be sorted on i a table or matrix. https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19331770-row-number Would be great if it could be picked in the same go as it should only be a visual effect on the table and matrix. Has to be done this complicated and crazy-work-aroundish way today: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Rank-by-sorting-columns/td-p/729785 https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Rank-a-column-in-a-table-based-on-slicer-selection/td-p/77705

Need to be able to sort by Year then Business Unit but the way I want it is not alphabetical. Why can't I drag/drop like in a pivot table?

Hierarchical sorting mechanism needed in visuals ... Work around is add a numeric column to dummy up the sort. ie 3 tier sort the column would be nnn format where each position relates to each tier. Also need a way to hide this special sorting column
