As a distribution mechanism apps are great, but when the items they contain become large in number finding the right item(s) can be difficult. Being able to find the right item within an app is vitally important, and descriptions are an easy way to achieve this.
The implemention may be different between org apps and workspace apps. For example, a tooltip may be used in a workspace app, whereas the description field could be added to the org app interface.
