Ability to group and layer visuals

Other MS products offer the ability to group items together and layer. I have found call to need to push shapes to the back and metrics forward etc but find current workarounds cumbersome. Plus if you want to copy a layered visual (white box covering things etc) I have to recreate the whole thing instead of grouping

I very need this, I use Bookmarks for changing visibility of many items and their axe into the hierarchy, but it's very tedious

There should be a feature to group multiple visuals in a single container such that when the container is moved, visuals inside it also move relatively, when the size of the container is changed, visuals size should also change relatively

Tacking onto this, the weird behavior of "I click something and it comes to the front" prevents deliberate overlapping of elements (ex: a card in a total row providing a dynamic row count ... an info button in a column header...simple boxes used to visually separate items...) if that's not just a bug, some control over the behavior would be nice https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Buttons-overlapping-visuals-in-Reports/m-p/412889#M44484 https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/20506444-permanent-layering-for-specific-shapes-and-visuals

We have completed this idea!

You can read about it in our documentation: Use grouping in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

We have also implemented a maintain layer order feature in Sept 2020. Find more details: Power BI September 2020 Feature Summary | Microsoft Power BI Blog | Microsoft Power BI
