How to fix a Bad shortcut name

Hi,

I have (had) a shortcut in may KQL Database called "terminals".

The shortcut was pointing to the wrong lakehouse, so I had to drop it and create again.

However, every time I create it again it adds a counter to the shortcut name: "_1", "_2" and so on.

It doesn't matter if the previous shortcut was already dropped, it stills add a counter.

How can I fix this problem?

If I wait between dropping the original shortcut and creating the new one, woult it solve the problem ?

I already  tried waiting, but it didn't work. I imagine it may be a matter of how long I need to wait - how long?

Is there any other way to solve this?

Kind Regards,

Dennes

Hello @DennesTorres

thanks you for your (older) question on this community forum.

I came accross this unanswered questions and tested it out.

It seems we can now reuse previous deleted KQL database shortcuts.

I created a shortcut 'sc01' for a certain table:

I deleted it when the data was ingested:

Then I created a new shortcut pointing to another lakehouse table but named it again 'sc01':

svelde_2-1778094695409.png

This name was accepted and pointed to the right data:

svelde_3-1778094720917.png

So, This name collision seems fixed.

I've encountered the same problem. Even when the Fabric Capacity was not active, I was able to attempt a shortcut creation which also increased the internal counter.

Now I'm stuck with multiple shortcuts that have different numbers.

Hi @DennesTorres ,

By my testing this seems to be an intermittent behavior, could you try refreshing your browser after about 10 minutes and then creating the KQL database shortcut with the same name again?

This issue has been submitted internally. Engineers on the product team are investigating the issue and will do their best to resolve the problem. I will update here if there is any progress, so please be patient.

Hi,

I tested again today, many days after the first test, and it still created a shortcut with "_3" in the name.

I dropped it, opened an anonymous browser window, tried again and it still created a shortcut with "_4" in the name.

I don't know exactly how to "reset" this.

This seems a silly problem, but it's a bigger issue. In a professional environment, we keep different environments for DEV, TEST and PROD.

A real time dashboard is already difficult to manage accross these environments. This problem makes it even worth, because any small accident will require us to edit the queries on each environment, as I will need to do if I don't find a work around for this.

Kind Regards,

Dennes
