Hi Team,
Can anyone help. how to trigger workflow message to slack automatically once we refresh the dataset in power bi service.
Actually, I created a dataset using the slack workflow url to power bi. When I refresh the dataset in the power bi application, the message in Slack is activated, however when I publish and set the refresh in the power bi service, the message in Slack is not triggered, even though the refresh is successful.
This doesn't sound right. You cannot create datasets with a Slack workflow as far as I know. And without a custom PowerAutomate connector you can also not know when the dataset refresh is finished. Your "the refresh is successful" is most likely just the refresh request being submitted successfully - which doesn't mean much.
Please elaborate.
Hi @lbendlin ,
Thank you for your time. I will provide some detailed information about the demand; please let me know how to better it in power bi and whether or not it is feasible.
First, I imported tables from two different data sources and transformed them to meet the needs of the dataset. When we refresh the desktop, whatever data we enter into the url triggers the Slack application, as shown in the screenshot below.
So far, I've tried to figure out what we need to do to trigger the notification message into the Slack application whenever we refresh the power bi. now iam facing some issue like [Unable to combine data] Section1/RP_Leave/Imported Text references other queries or steps, so it may not directly access a data source. Please rebuild this data combination. in power bi service may be can you provide some details how to achive it.

Hi @lbendlin ,
I'd want to thank you for your update, even though I tried checking all privacy setting choices and searched for rebuilding the dataset, I have no idea how to do so. First, I need to know whether this strategy is feasible in Power Bi. If it's feasible, please let me know how I can do it. Any updates would be very appreciated.
It is feasible but will require a lot of trial and error. Your best option is NOT to attempt to merge data sources in Power Query. Instead, let the Power BI data model do the work for you through the table joins. If that is not an option then you will have to go through the documentation I referenced and validate each and every recommendation and limitation. No dynamic URLs. Inline functions. Keep everything in the same partition etc etc. There is no simple solution.
