Which API link should I use to upload a local CSV as a new dataset to service?

I'm exploring the PowerBI's REST API reference to find a resource that I could use to upload a local CSV file I have in the desktop to a specific workspace, but can't seem to find one. Is there a way I can accomplish this inside my own app?

Hi @JohnTheDoe,

Since you said the CSV file is in the Desktop, I would suggest you use this API to upload the whole pbix file as a new data source.

Thanks for your response.

Is there a way to only upload CSV files in order to create a new dataset? The idea is so that the customer won't need to have knowledge of PowerBI and can simply upload a CSV file he/she is working on without hassle, and let another person who does know about PowerBI do the report work.

Hi @JohnTheDoe,

According to the imports/postimportingroup and my test, I'm afraid the CSV file isn't supported for now. How about converting them into Excel files first? I would suggest you create an idea here.

Best Regards,
