and as you can see i tried to sort it by Sum of Costs:

jaryszek_1-1758115091796.png

but as you can see The biggest is Spot,  second is Reservation, and Third is SavingsPlan and On Demand from Discountable.
but in Pie Chart order is different!

How to address the ordering case?
Let me attach report example:

thanks.

It is not a solution if I am adding legend.
There is no way of sorting it then... within Pie Chart

Hi jaryszek,

Thankyou for the update.

Based on my understanding, in Power BI the slices of Pie and Donut charts cannot be sorted independently when no Legend is provided. The sorting options apply only to the field placed in the Legend well. Consequently, in the absence of a Legend there is no way to enforce a specific order for the slices.

We kindly request that you submit an idea for this feature for the built-in Pie and Donut visuals via the Microsoft Fabric Ideas portal using the linkFabric Ideas - Microsoft Fabric Community

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact the Microsoft Fabric community.

Thank you.

Thankyou, @lbendlin, for your response.

Hi jaryszek,

We appreciate your inquiry on the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Based on my understanding, the pie chart is not sorting as expected because sorting in Power BI applies to the field placed in the Legend well. In your report, Discountability is in the Legend while PricingModel is in the Details. Therefore, the sort option applies only to the two Discountability values and not to the individual PricingModel slices.

Please follow the steps below, which may help resolve the issue:

  1. Move PricingModel to the Legend well and remove Discountability if you want to sort by PricingModel.
  2. On the chart, click More options (…) and select Sort, then choose Sum of CostInBillingCurrency and select Sort descending. This will order the pie slices from largest to smallest value.

Please find the screenshot attached below:

We hope the information provided helps resolve the issue. Should you have any further queries, please feel free to contact the Microsoft Fabric Community.

Thank you.

Looks like a bug to me. The visual refuses to sort correctly.  Try a different /  custom visual or raise an issue.

thank you. It is behaving the same in all my reports.

Ihave changed to donut but it is the same behaviour, why? Maybe we do not know something about power bi sort behaviour.
