Using Microsoft Gantt chart in Power BI. Slicer date to change timeline
- 1 year ago
I found a way to build a gantt chart with a time line of the task in sequetial way, excluding the slicer. It was a combination of custom columns in my main table and DAXs.

Hi lacruzad ,
Just to clarify, are you looking to filter only the visible tasks based on the slicer, or are you also trying to limit the entire Gantt chart timeline (date axis) to match the slicer range?
Thank you.
Hi v-menakakota
Thanks for your response, the idea is to show the selected timeline from the slicer in the gantt chart. If I select from the slicer a start date and an end date, that range it should update the gantt chart and show the tasks in that range, so yes, the goal is that the gantt chart timeline matches with the slicer range.

Hi lacruzad ,
Thank you for reaching out to us on the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
We really appreciate your efforts and for letting us know the update on the issue, the Microsoft Gantt chart (from AppSource) does support filtering tasks using slicers, but unfortunately it doesn’t dynamically adjust the timeline axis (x-axis) based on slicer selections. This means that even when the task list is filtered, the visible date range in the chart remains unchanged. If this functionality is important to your scenario (which makes a lot of sense, especially for focused reporting), I’d strongly recommend posting it to the Power BI Ideas forum here:

That’s the best way to get visibility from the product team and allow others to vote on it. Many features in Power BI have come directly from user suggestions like this.

Thanks for the response and explanation. This definitely must an improvement for any gantt visual, because it's a shame to be stuck by this limitation. Is there any way to reach my goal with a simple table, where I can see every task with start and end date for the time line? the idea is to see every tasks with different start and end date considering the duration of the task and the total amount of hours
