REST API of posting data to Power BI Embedded

Hi, 

I'm trying Power BI Embedded. But my data are stored in On-Premises SQL Server and can't be accessed by external network. So I can't use direct query if I want it real-time updated. I wonder if there's REST API that can post data to Power BI Embedded.

In Power BI Embedded, the DirectQuery mode only supports the source Azure SQL DB and Azure SQL Datawarehouse. Check more details by clicking What data sources are currently supported with Power BI Embedded?

AFAIK, there's no REST API to push data, the Power BI Embeddd REST API is very limited.

May I know why is Power BI Embedded preferred in your case? In Power BI Service, you can either connect to a On-Premise SQL Server via gateway or push data via REST API.
