Power BI and Excel Files / Dataset accessing multiple Excel files

Hi,

I am working with a client and their data lineage looks the following:

I am trying to replicate the same kind of lineage on my own tenant but when I upload and Excel file it becomes a data set.  Thus, how can I upload Excel file and just have it appear on its own? Second, how can I create a dataset from multiple Excel files?

Thanks!

    Hi danielpaduck ,

You can follow the steps below to get the lineage view:

    1. Navigate to the related workspace

    2. Click on the tree icon in the upper right corner of the page that appears.

For your second question, you can create a dataset from multiple Excel files in Power BI following the steps below:

    Open Power BI Desktop.

    1. Click on “Get Data” in the Home ribbon.
    2. Select “Excel” and navigate to the location of your first Excel file.
    3. Select the tables or ranges you want to import and click “Load”.
    4. Repeat steps 2-4 for each additional Excel file.
    5. Once all data is loaded, you can create relationships between the tables as needed and build your report.

    Best Regards
