Power BI Rest API - Selective Deploy - Cloud Connections
Hi,
We have been using the Power BI Rest API Selective Deploy end point to deploy Power BI artifacts between workspaces. We are using service principal authentication. This has been working successfully for a number of years. Recently we configured our semantic models to use "Cloud connections" instead of "Gateway connections", this seems to flag a "Failed" deployment with no other details behind the failure. Does anyone know of any reason why this would happen? Are Cloud connections a limitation of the Selective Deploy end point? Manual deployments suceed so I am surprised API deployments fail but only with cloud connections.

Hi,
We are using: Pipelines - Selective Deploy - REST API (Power BI Power BI REST APIs) | Microsoft Learn to deploy our artefacts to upstream workspaces (DEV -> TEST), this works fine when deploying semantic models using "Gateway connections" but fails when semantic models use "Cloud connections"
Below is the output from our DevOps pipeline run. As mentioned, this run succeeds when the semantic model has a on-prem gateway connection but not a cloud connection?...
