PBI embedded app-owns-data approach to allow users to edit, create and save reports and dashboards

Hi everyone!

I need some help to figure out the approach to allow users to edit pre-existing reports and dashboards, create new ones, and save them, so they are available for the creator or for the whole organization.

All I've found is about user-owns-data, but this case is for a multitenant SaaS application (app-owns-data) into which we'd like to embed PBI dashboards.

For example, a company would sign up and create users who would log in and find preconfigured dashboards. The goal is to allow end-users to edit those dashboards or create new ones and make them available to other users in the same company or just to themselves.

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous

I think PBIE supports embedding customizable reports and dashboards in app-owns-data mode ("for your customers"), as stated in

It seems that the only way is to create a workspace per tenant (client/customer).
Any other ideas?

Hi @dpiret,

Maybe you can submit an idea to improve this feature to allow more customizes on embed contents.

Hi @dpiret,

Did you mean you want to share the embedded contents to users and enable 'edit' mode to allow users to edit/save different versions?
If that is the case, current power bi not support this. Edit feature seems directly apply changes to embed content, it did not keep raw content and saving different versions based on user operations/changes.

Configure report settings#open-in-edit-mode
