Multiple Join Paths in Power BI Embedded, But Not in Power BI Service

Hello everyone,

My application is already in production and works equally well in Power BI Service and Power BI Embedded.
In my data model, Fact_Temperature has two different relationship paths to Dim_Site, and I need both for different use cases.
Everything runs smoothly, except that Power BI Embedded reports an issue with multiple join paths, whereas Power BI Service accepts it without any problem.
I’ve checked the configuration (datasets, capacity (sku A1, etc.), and everything points to the same environment.

Has anyone encountered this issue or knows of a specific setting in Power BI Embedded to handle multiple relationships?

Thanks for your help!

Hi @Fredicare ,

I think your issue maybe caused by relationship and Row-Level-Security(RLS).

Due to I don't know your data model, here I suggest you to refer to below offical blogs to learn more details about

Hi @v-rzhou-msft,

Thank you for your response.

Here are the details regarding the issue:

  1. Is this error for a specific report or all reports?

    • This error occurs for a specific report only. Other reports work without issues.
  2. What kind of method do you choose for Power BI Embedded, app owns data or user owns data?

    • We are using the App Owns Data model for Power BI Embedded.
  3. What kind of connection mode are you using in your report, Import/Direct Query/Live connection?

    • The connection mode for the report is Import.
  4. Do you configure RLS in your Power BI Embedded Report?

    • Yes, we are using Row-Level Security (RLS) in the report.

Your question about RLS got me thinking, and it helped me narrow down the issue. I was able to reproduce the Multiple Join Paths error in Power BI Desktop by using the "View as" feature to simulate RLS. This strongly suggests that the problem is related to RLS in my model.

Let me know if additional details are needed or if you have any guidance on resolving this issue.

Thank you for your assistance!

Best regards,
