Modifying page level styling with custom visuals

In messing around with custom visuals code I have been using javascript/jquery to add/remove/modify visual elements on the report page outside of the custom visual itself.  For example, removing the bottom tabs and replacing with a navigation bar, or changing the color set of the filter pane.  

Has anyone else been experimenting with the same thing, any ideas on what would be a useful modifcation to inject with a custom visual?
