Logging Applied Filters in Power BI Report Server
- 4 months ago
Hi Ozzy007,
Unfortunately, there is no native way in Power BI Report Server to capture slicer/filter selections (interactive state) in logs.
But you can simulate it
1. by creating measures and write back to a table in shared location on Sharepoint/Onedrive
2. Creating field parameters, use them in slicers and then writing back to the SQL source table
Attached is a .pbix file to showcase how you can create a table and then you can write this information back to the table, depending upon how you want to set it up (Sharepoint or SQL)

Hi Ozzy007

grazitti_sapna Thanks for the inputs.
The suggestion from the user was helpful. As mentioned by the Super User, Power BI Report Server does not natively capture slicer or filter selections in its logs.
In addition to user points, one approach is to use report parameters for the most important filters. These values can be captured in the ExecutionLog along with details like the user and execution time. While this isn’t a perfect replacement for slicers, it does help from an auditing perspective.
If complete visibility into all interactive filter selections is required, it would typically need a custom embedded solution, as this isn’t supported out of the box in Report Server.
If there are any deviations from your expectation please let us know we are happy to address.
Thanks.
