Importing two datasets with different sizes in a custom visual
I'd like to have a small table (i.e a ten rows by three columns in size) in addition to my main dataset which is hundreds of rows. The plan is to show some objects based on the small table on the main chart which comes from the large table.
Any idea how to code dataViewMappings section in capabilities.json for this scenario? I've tried a lot of cases but none of them worked.
- Custom visuals currently only support a single dataViewMapping, which means that you might have to think differently about how to structure the one you can use to handle all data coming in. You would then need to handle mapping of that to your view model in your code.
It's been requested before that the team support multiple dataViewMappings but they have indicated there is no intention to actually do this.
Probably not the answer you're looking for but will hopefully enable you to try an alternative approach.

One way to solve this is to cbind your datasets. I provide an elaborate explanation in this article.
