My team is reviewing a list of records in a report and the report is telling them whether they should approve or reject a task. Once they approve or reject the task in the source system, I want to be able to remove the record from their list without refreshing the data.
Is there a way to "check a box" to filter out the record in a Power BI report?

You're a little too early. While data write back intentions have finally been announced, nothing was said on when it would be implemented and if in-memory manipulation of the semantic model would be allowed.
No work arounds?
A klutzy way of doing this would be to use a PowerApps visual inside the Power BI report. This comes with a lot (A LOT) of baggage and does not give a satisfactory user experience.
Thank you.
