How to develop custom data connector in terms of env seperation between development and production?

Hi everyone.

I'm building a custom data connector, and was wondering what strategy you use in terms of developing against a dev environment, and then a production environment when deployed.

Is it possible to configure this by maybe configuring an optional setting to the custom data connector - or simply just maintain 2 parallel projects?

Would love to know how you accomplish this if you are an author of a custom power bi data source connector.
