Gantt Chart Custom Visuals - not that great -> Has anyone tried creating a Gantt Chart via Matrix?

Hi folks,

I've noticed that the custom visuals for Gantt Charts in Power BI have a lot of bugs, and weird aspects that makes it clear that the visual wasn't developed by Microsoft. I'm tired of recieving requests about Gantt Charts and the visuals not being 100% customaizable and things looking clunky.

Has anyone created Gantt Charts based off of a Matrix or Pivot Table? Someone on my team created this within excel, and asked if something like this could be created with the hierarchies included in this way.

Has anyone done anything like this? If so, please explain, elaborate, or send links to videos, blogs, etc.

Hi @Anonymous

In Power BI, if you want to achieve your goal by matrix visual, your data model should looks like as below.

Here I create a sample.

You need to turn off stepped layout in Row header format. Result is as below.
