I am using the relatively new feature of embedding PowerBI reports into a Dynamics365 CE system dashboard.
All my users have PowerBI Pro licences.
The report in PBI has been shared with the users.
The report is embedded into a dashboard in a model driven app.
When I navigate to the dashboard in Dynamics, I get the grey PBI icon and the sign in button. Clicking this moves me to a new tab where I choose my sign in account. This then takes me back to the dashboard where the spinning icon spins for 5-6 seconds. I then get the same icon and the text 'Authentication wasn’t successful. You need to sign in to your Power BI account to view or edit Power BI tiles' and the Sign in button again.
This just continually loops and never logs into the PowerBI report.
If I click the Open in PowerBI button, I can log into PowerBI and view the report without any problems.
If I open a new Edge window in Guest mode, log into the same account, the dashboard opens without any prompt perfectly fine.
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Making our users log into a new Edge window as a guest is not a solution.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
I can confirm that I have added the user as a Member to the workspace - although I don't really want to do this as I don't want to share the workspace, just the report, but have done this for testng purposes.
I have also cleared the cache numerous times, including emptying the cache and doing a hard refresh. I can click the Open in PowerBI button, and the report and the workspace opens without any problems, BUT, it still will not appear within the Dynamics dashboard and the image below appears with 'Authentication wasn't successful'.
Again, if I open a new browser window as a Guest user, log in with the same account and re-authenticate (2FA) the dashboard automatically logs me in and displays correctly. It is obviously something to do with caching while logged into Edge with an account, but cannot figure out the fix. As most of our users all have Edge accounts, I need to be able to find the problem before we can deploy this out.
Just for clarity I am using the New+ -> Dashboard -> PowerBI embedded feature and selecting report from within the new unified interface Powerapps Maker admin centre, not using Iframe within a dashboard or creating a webresource html page.
Any other ideas?
Hi @PhilO ,
First, please try to clear all cache of the browser and check whether it can access that report successfully. Later check whether grant these user accounts the access to the related workspace.
Please refer the content in the following blog to embed Power BI report in Dynamics 365.
