Datamodel formatting is not working on Visual Custom

Hi Folks

I am new to the Developer part and I am creating a custom Barchart. My problem is if I want to format my data (e.g rounding) this is not transfered to the visual.

Is there a special function for this in Typescript, or should this happen automatically? I am displaying all data on an SVG and I am working with D3.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi @Anonymousn,

You need to handle formatting yourself.

The formatting information from the data model (if set) is available in a column's or measure's format property in the dataView's metadata array.

To apply formatting you can use Formatting Utils to create a valueFormatter and pass in the metatdata from your desired column or measure and then use this result in your visual.

Regards,

Daniel

Interesting. This documentation doesn't specifically talk about number format passthrough.  Will have to look at it some more.
