Custom Visual Development works on PowerBi.com but not Desktop

I've developed and tested a custom visual. I've tested it by hosting a server using "pbiviz start" and running the developer visual (i.e. the < > visual) on app.powerbi.com in my premium capacity.  Everything looks good there.

I then packaged the visual using "pbiviz package --verbose" and it's successfully packaged.

When I take my package and import into Power BI desktop, I can see it starts to render but dies. (again it doesn't die with the same data up on app.powerbi.com).  So I need to figure out how to debug while in the desktop.

After it's been packaged, is there any way to see the console.logs or error information?   I am not seeing anything.

Hi  @mastone ,

Ensure that the Develop  a Visual option is enabled in Power BI Desktop

You can click on File—>Option and Settings—>Options—>Diagnostics—>Enable tracing – >Collect diagnostic information, then you will find the Power BI log files.

Try clicking F12 in your browser to open the Developer Tools window, and click the Console tab to see any logs or errors that may have been generated by the custom visual object.
