Custom Data Connector on Power BI Service without gateway

I'm developing a custom data connector for a client based on a OData data source.

One requirement from the client is that the connector needs to be available online in the Power BI Portal so it is possible to set scheduled refresh. Since the point of the connector is to abstract the maximum configuration effort from the user experience the private gateway is not an option.

I would like to know if it's possible to publish the connector online so it will be available on Power BI Portal, and if so which steps do I need to take in order to do that.

Hope you can give me some hints.

Thanks in advance,

I am afraid currently it is not available to publish the custom connector online, at the current time.

Currently it is only available to create new custom connector through Power BI Desktop, and the product team is working on

"

enabling a central marketplace/distribution mechanism for Data Connectors. In the meantime, ISVs interested in distributing their connectors with Power BI Desktop can contact DataConnectors@microsoft.com.

"

You may take a look at the following page for more details about it:

Power BI Data Connectors

Michael
