We have an ASP.NET website that hosts an embedded Power BI report with a SQL Server dataset imported into the report. The report has been working without issues for a couple of years.
Recently, a number of changes have been made to the report which has increased the dataset size and complexity. This works fine in the desktop app but when we publish this report so it's picked up by the website, it still works fine for around 30-40 minutes, but at some point when we click on a slicer or visual, it will suddenly display 'X' signs on all the visuals, which state that it 'Couldn't Load the Data for this Visual' (see screenshots). The HTTP status could is 403 - Forbidden.
If I refresh the browser, it then reports a DoSP error which puts a block on anyone accessing the reports for 5 minutes (see screenshot). This seems to imply there have been a number of connections essentially spamming the server, which is probably why we see the 403 error. After 5 minutes, the report works normally again (at least for a while).
There is nothing in either the Web Server or Application logs on the App Service. The report seems to work fine within app.powerbi.com also. It's just the embedded version within the website that fails, but after opening the report on the website, there is no interaction between the site and Power BI, so debugging this does not help.
I have tried running some performance analysis from Power BI desktop but there is nothing that points to an issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions of things I could try to work out what is causing this?
Many thanks
RobMar74 - any update on this? we are having the exact same issue...we need to get this resolved ASAP since our clients are getting frustrated. The other posts like this don't seem to have any resolution either. Thanks for raising this.
