Controlling hidden parameters in paginated report depending on app audience
Hi.
We are moving our report from SSRS report server to Power BI App, controlling access with audiences. Some existing paginated reports have a hidden parameter which is passed to the underlying SQL stored procedure and controls what the report provides as information. In SSRS server, we set up a linked report for each desired outcome by manually setting the hidden parameter. For example 1 linked report would show ALL data, another linked report would show only the last 7 years of data. It's the same report, just setting the parameter behind to show all or not.
I can't find a way to set this in the PBI App based on the audience without uploading multiple versions of the paginated report (setting the hidden parameter to the desired value each time). Is there a way to set these parameters at the audience level. Example: I'd like Audience 'Public' to have the parameter set to only see 7 years of data, and the Audience 'Audit' to see all the data.. these audiences are based on access level roles.
Hope this makes sense.
uploading multiple versions of the paginated report (setting the hidden parameter to the desired value each time). That will actually provide a much better user experience. As you know rendering a paginated report takes a lot of time, and doing this dynamically will be detrimental to the UX. (and is not really necessary).
