Connect to Azure Analysis Service from Power BI Report Server

How can I connect to Azure Analysis Service model from a Power BI Report Server report using the live connection. I've seen posts that state that its not available yet, but in this link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/data-sources it says that live connect is a supported data source for Azure Analysis Service. I then scroll down in that link and it does not list an authentication method for Azure Analysis Service.

Post save the pbix in your Power BI Report Server, go to Manage->Data Sources and in Credentials change to "Basic Authentication", with user name and password and Save, and report is render and connect to AAS and perfect for me in August 2018 version.

DAX is easy, CALCULATE makes DAX hard...

I don't have an issue in Power BI Desktop (August 2018). I can import and/or connect live and build the report. I then save as Power BI Report Server and if I use import, I have no issues. My issue is afte I have saved the connect live report to Power BI Report server. I then go to the Power BI Report server and it will no longer connect to the data.

It sounds like an issue of the physical server wehre Power BI Report server is running not being able to connect to the cloud. It is possible that the server running Power BI Report Server is on an internal network only accessible to clients inside the LAN? That would explain why a Power BI report can connec to from your desktop computer but not from the server once you publish the report to Power BI Report Server.

Can you run tests on the server and see why the connection to Azure Analysis Server is failing?

I had the same thought, so I had tested connecting to Azure Analysis Services using SQL Server Management Studio on the Report Server. I was able to connect with no problem.
