Connect data source from power BI web app using ODBC connector and data gateway

Hello Experts,

This has been asked several times but I couldnt find a solution that I can use.

I have a data source which needs a custom ODBC driver. The data source is configured in a AKS cluster and accessible to external world. I can connect to it from power BI desktop by using custom ODBC driver.

Now I need to make this data source available using the the power BI web app. My understanding is that I should be able to do it using data gateway. Any pointers and or experience doing the same would be very helpful.

A gateway VM is very similar to your PC running Power BI Desktop.  Install the custom ODBC driver on each gateway cluster member, create the connection in the ODBC 64 control panel (System DSN) and then create gateway connections pointing to the DSN.  Same as you do on the PC.
