Connect Tableau to Power BI dataset
Hi
I am trying to connect Tableau desktop(2018.2 version) to Power BI datasets. But i am getting an error saying:
I am a premiuim user and am a memer of the workspace where we have published the dataset. I am using the connection string to connect to the dataset from tableau.
Here is the error I am getting:
Unable to connect to the srever. Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.
Thanks

Hi Anonymous ,
According to your description, your organization has premium capacity, which is one of the prerequisites, and you need to have pro license.Check if you have pro license and install the latest Analysis Services client libraries.

hi Liang
Thanks for getting back to me.
our company has the premium, i have a pro user license and i have also installed the latest drivers of analysis services (from the Tableau site).
I have used the same workspace connection string with a excel workbook and i was able to see the datasets.

Hi All,
When the Tableau connection says if you are using Azure AD/2FA then leave the username and password blank this does not prompt for 2FA. I typed space for username and space for password I got prompted for 2FA.
Hope this helps for others.

Linda

I was experiencing this issue and the drivers suggested by Tableau weren't working. In the end I installed the latest version of SSMS which included the correct drivers and fixed the issue. Installing SSMS to get this working definitely seemed like overkill but it did the job
