Button event - send data to other application

Hi,

This is my first post here. Very new to PowerBI. 

I was wandering if it is possible to 'connect' PowerBI to other running applications, and send data to that other application using a powerBI button. 

To be more specific about what I want to achieve: I have a PowerBI dashboard that visualizies data imported from an Autodesk NavisWorks material takeoff schedule. The utimate goal is to select some subset of this data inside PowerBI, and then hit a button to send this data back to Navisworks, in order to visualize there what was selected in PowerBI. 

Does anyone know if these kind of button actions are possible in PowerBI?

Any hints on how/where to start?
