Hello,

I have some questions about dashboards on websites that only certain customers are allowed to access (for example: by login).

Currently I have a cloud. The Cloud has a database and a Windows server and the Power Bi Report server. Right now, potential customers are able to access a dashboard via a VPN connection. However, they would first have to login via the VPN, which I would like to avoid. I thought about getting a Domain or open my Cloud to the outside, so there would be no VPN connection needed in future.

Now Im not sure which product is right for that case? Would Power BI Premium with Report Server be the right solution or Power BI Embedded?

Is is even possible to use Power BI the way how i would like to?

Sounds like you could do this via the Power BI Service. Just share your dashboard with the correct external users. Are you trying to avoid Power BI licenses for customers?

no Im not trying to avoid licenses for customer. I just dont see which product fits for my purpose the best. I thought first Power BI Report Server is the right one, but someone told me for my purpose it fits better here.

I just like to have the Dashboard on my Cloud instead of an external (in that case Microsoft)

As far as I know, Power BI Report Server can only be available in on-premise enviroment, as it use Integrated Windows Authentication. You can check this idea Embed Power BI Report Server reports into extranet apps and vote it up.

So in your case, I'm afraid Power BI Embedding can be the only approach without VPN.
