Access Azure SQL DB from Power BI using service principal created in AD

Hi,

I need help in using Service Principal(application) created in Azure AD to authenticate/access Azure SQL Database from power BI. Please share the steps to be followed.

HI @lkakarla2020 , If you manage to implment suggested solution to connect Azure SQL from power bi using web connector or other data drivers to get data. Can you please help to share implementation approach as Power bi does not support using the 'service principal' as the data credentials as of now?

HI @lkakarla2020,

Power bi does not support using the 'service principal' as the data credentials.
Please use a web connector or other data drivers to get data from your data source with correspond token string as an additional parameter to send from your connector to verify the data source connection.

Is there any example of using REST API to get data from Azure SQL? From what I can find there were previous efforts to expose data to Azure SQL using ODATA, but those efforts are no longer being pursued?
