working with data from onedrive personal
My data is in OneDrive Personal. I can import it easily modifying the embed. I can see the tables and even do joins . I cannot modify anything. I try to add a column and I get an error. I try to modify data type and I get an error. What am I missing ? I need to have the data on the onedrive for it to update, and I do not have a business account.

I few questions for clarification:
- Can you include screenshots with your description?
- What is the error you get when you add the column?
- What is the error you get when you modify the data type?
You can connect your One Drive Personal to PowerBI as a data source via the Web option.
Navigate to the online folder containing your One Drive file.
Click on the ellipsis (3 dots) menu option beside the file and click embed.
Copy the embed code
Format the code:
- Remove all the text before the URL starts
- Replace “embed?” with “download?”
- Remove the cid part without deleting resid and authkey
- Remove text after em=2
On Power BI desktop, “Get data” where the source is Web and the credentials are Anonymous (caution: The authentication is in the url)
The rest is standard ETL

Apologies for the late reply. I was travelling with limited internet access.
Did you get a successful connection? Could you preview the contents of your one drive and select tables?
Once the connection was made did you transform the data?

After creating the connection through this method, is PowerBI able to do a scheduled refresh of this? In the past it was easier because we were able to connect the dataset through OneDrive but ever since they changed it, I can't seem to find a way to enable a scheduled refresh for my dataset that is on Onedrive -Personal.
By any chance, do you know how to fix this?
