web url storage mode

Hi All,

I need a clarification regarding getting data into Power BI Desktop from websites using web url. My customer is a retailer. I am developing Power BI reports for them. For that, Some data needs to be imported from websites. I did this by, get data -> web.

If i use this method, all data from that website will be loaded into power bi as Import storage mode. But i actually wanted it as direct query method. My customer doesnt want to manually refresh. Does web url support direct query method ?

Thanks,

It's not possible I'm afraid. Take a look at the following link for a full list of direct query compatible data sources.

HI @Anonymous ,

Not sure what you meant by web url in direct query mode.?

You can schedule a refresh of your data.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/configure-scheduled-refresh#:~:text=scheduled%20refresh%20plan.-,In%20the%20web%20portal%2C%20right%2Dclick%20on%20the%20Power%20BI,data%20model%20to%20be%20refreshed.

hi @harshnathani

My customer doesnt want to refresh manually or schedule a refresh in service. They want live connection. Source data is from websites. Practically, getting data from web suports only import, will not create a live connection.

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous ,

Yes.

I think link is already shared which can be explained to the customer.
