visualize overlap between two date fields on multiple records

Hello,

I am new to BI and I would like to find out how to make a Visulization from my data that consists of records with both start and finish dates. I would like to be able to see a graph of the count of records/activities each day, over a couple year time period, while also being able to drill in and back out of the data. Any ideas?
