visualization and fields menus not showing
would it be possible to share a screenshot of what you see at the moment?
Burlinghamla, make sure you have installed the latest version of Power BI
If this does not solved the issue, try signing out the windows account and then sign in and open again power bi.
I have also encountered this issue. Usually it is related to the capacity of the device you are using.

I have restarted my PC, reinstalled Power BI desktop, and logged in as a new user. I am still getting a Black screen in report and no visualization and fields menus. Any other ideas, i am currently unable to do anytghing with out my menus
could you please turn on tracing, and restart PowerBI, this will generate a log for whatever issue you are facing, you can do this:
To turn on tracing, select File > Options and settings > Options and then select Diagnostics, then check Enable tracing under Diagnostic Options.
