unable to connect to oracle database

Hi,

I'm trying to connect to oracle Database 19c with Power BI Desktop 64 bits

I follow the guide https://www.oracle.com/a/ocom/docs/database/microsoft-powerbi-connection-adw.pdf

I've installed oracle client and I put tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora but when I select Oracle database it says me:

I search in forums but I can't see correct answer. Any help please?

Thanks

Hi  @mmm286b ,

Did the above replies help you?

You can try the link below with the same error message and check the following:

Verify that the tnsnames.ora file is properly configured and that you are using the correct net_service_name. also make sure that the net_service_name is the same between the computer using Power BI Desktop and the computer running the gateway.

HI @mmm286b ,

You also have to install the Oracle bits on your Gateway Server.  Take a run at that and let us know how it goes.

Conisdering you have 64 bit power bi desktop installed, just check if you have installed 64 bit oracle client. Make sure you have all the configurations in place, if you are connecting to an on premises oracle db then you need to have tnsnames file in the right location and you should place its path as an environment variable (ex: TNS_ADMIN)

refer this video and also the below thread

if you are still facing the issue then I would suggest you to uninstall power bi desktop and download it fromt he web (not from the microsoft store) and see if that helps
