two (almost) identical charts doing two different things

I have two simple charts - one showing assessments by created date, another showing assessments by due date. 

I used the first one as a template for the second, only changing the X-axis and nothing else, so they should be pretty much identical. 

When I click on the first one, it filters everything else on the page by the selected column. 

When I click on the second one, it doesn't do that - instead, it takes me to a table which I don't recognise. 

I have checked all of the interactions and everthing affects everything else. 

I have gone through the two charts and I can find no difference, other than the X-axis variable. 

The created date and due date variables have identical formats in Power Query. 

I am absoutely stumped. 

What else is there to check?

    I'm not sure how much more detail you need, but here is some more info. 

     

    I have two charts as follows: 

     

     

    and each chart affects the other, like so: 

     

     

    and: 

     

     

    However, if I either (a) deselect the X-axis in either chart, then put it back straight away or (b) copy and paste one  of the charts then change the X-axis, I get this instead when I click in one of the columns: 

     

    The columns in the table are not part of the chart, so I'm a little bit stumped.

    Yes, the interaction effect is deliberate - my customers prefer it. 

    I have looked into showing underlying data and that's not what's happening in this case.  I am getting a table full of columns that aren't part of the chart.
