if so keep having this problem even tring to install all other version
I fixed the “you must first install additional components” error in Power BI by cleaning up the machine.config file.
Uninstall all versions of MySQL Connector/NET.
install the version that you need (for me I used the latest 9.4)
open as admin
In the <DbProviderFactories> section, remove all duplicate “MySQL Data Provider” lines and keep only ONE for the version you want (e.g. 9.4.0.0).
Reinstall MySQL Connector/NET (64‑bit) and restart your PC.
This solution worked for me.
Only thing that I did differently was instead of following the path:
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Config\machine.config
I edited the file in:
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Config\machine.config
Then it was working for me again.
I had the same problem and I identified a post where some people solved it with old versions of the connector, in my case I had to install the connector version mysql-connector-net-8.0.26.
good luck
This worked for me.
Thanks for your reply to my question this solution helped me to resolve my issue.
