subtotals
I have a matrix with two row values. Channel and then channel subtype. There is just one channel and two subtypes. When I do this it gives me two row subtotals (that are the same value. I just want one subtotal for the rows. Is it possible to do this?

Currently, it is impossible to disable the subtotals in Matrix, some ideas about this issue have been submitted in the following links, please vote it up.

if yes , In matrix right now there is option to hide only sub total. sorry :-(
only option to hide the totals
The backdoor you're looking for here is "Analyze in Excel" :)
