storing data from a web API

I am going to be pulling data from a web API on a weekly basis.  The API returns 7 days of data at a time.  I will be refreshing this data Either daily or Weekly.

I want to save the data retrieved via the API for use in the future.

What would be the best way to store the data from the Web API using Power BI.

  • moltra maybe use ADF (Azure Data Factory) or Power Automate, make an API call, store data on blob storage or insert in SQL Server and then use Power BI to read from the stored data.

it does not, I tried using a dataflow to connect to the Weather API and then tried to append to a second dataflow that was from a csv file on one drive.  It would append the data to the 2nd dataflow, but it would not update the csv with the data, so the data would not be saved.

    Hi parry2k ,

Store data in Power BI Service in the form of Dataflow. You can connect to this dataflow directly when creating a report.

  • v-lionel-msft doesn't make any sense, every time a call is made it will do a full data refresh and if you read the original question your reply doesn't solve the problem until I'm totally off track. Please explain how it solves the original question posted by moltra
