slicers based on measure

Hi all,

I had to modify the content of a column in a table .Used a calculated measure as below

Mod_Country=if(max(Country)="US","USA",Country)

Now I need to show the Mod_Country as a slicer so the user can select Countries. For some reason Power BI is not accepting measures as part of Slicer Categories, whereas,  I can achieve required result if I used a Calculated Column for Mod_Country though.

Is this an expected behaviour?

Yes, this is expected behavior. You must populate a list of values into a slicer for selection. So it's not possbile to support putting measure into a slicer. A measure is a formula that the calculation is always aggregated, it need to be sliced so that you can get corresponding result for each entry.

In this scenario, you should always use a calculated column to achieve your requirement.

Hey,

currently measures are not supported on sliceres, so yes this is an expected behavior.

This may change in one of the future releases, but for now I'm not aware of an ETA.

Regards
