slicer allowing me to multi-select without holding control

I have a simple year slicer (one of several slicers) that I have set up with the option for multi-select while holding the CTRL button.  The strange thing is that this slicer is allowing multi-select without holding the CTRL button.  That selection appears to have no impact on that visual.  Clicking several years in a row, I can simply click them.   To deselect them...same thing.   Is this a new feature or something?  Other than that, it works as expected.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry to be going round and round with you on this, but all my slicers are set up the exact same way.  I have been working on this report for 3 years, and I am very familiar with how the slicers work.  That's why this slicer's behavior is a mystery to me.  I had a co-worker watch me for a sanity check.  LOL.  The feature is turned on and I am able to multi-select without holding the CTRL button.

I deleted the slicer and put in a new one -- same year field and same two slicer settings (tile and Multi-select with CTRL).  It is working as expected now.   It had to be some glitch.

For single select, you have to toggle the first option. This option is only for multi select with or without ctrl.

@MarkD1722 this feature is there for a while, it is a setting in the slicer visual when multiselect with ctrl is turned off:

That's just it... I have that option selected, and I am still able to multi-select without holding CTRL.  My understanding of the feature is as you said... if the feature is turned off, the selection should basically be like a toggle.  With the feature turned on, it would be expected that selecting any one choice unselects previous choice, until you hold down CTRL.  If I didn't have that feature turned on, then each selection could be selected or deselected individually and afford multi-selection as you described.  I literally have about 4 dozen slicers throughout this report, and none of them work this way with "Multi-select with CTRL" turned on.

If I am misunderstanding your explanation or how this slicer feature is supposed to work, please let me know.

Thanks, again.
